A Peek...

SO sorry that we have not blogged in a while! M & I are prepping for our move to our new blog (details to come!) that is going to follow us at school! We will continue to post about fashion, trends, things we love and do in addition to more about our sorority and american lives! A little less Paris, a little more Providence! We learned a lot from Paris though and the Parisian lifestyle, so this will naturally flow over to our new blog! We cannot wait to share it with you :]

Today I though I would post a pic of one of the buildings we went to school in. I hope you enjoy it and find it as beautiful as we did! It's amazing how much green space is hidden throughout Paris!

Our American school is beautiful, but just in a different way! Cannot wait to return next week, it has been too long!

Our Favorite... Spot for Americanized Food

There is truly no shortage of beyond fabulous food in Paris. The selection if truly limitless, you can eat divine Italian, Japanese, Greek, and even Mexican! Sometimes you have to look and do a little research to find a truly amazing non french restaurant, but trust us they exist and they are delish! Today we would like to share our favorite Americanized restaurant! And while this restaurant cannot be labeled as serving only "American" food, it features a menu most similar to the ones one would find in the states!

The Lizard Lounge

The Lizard Lounge is a true gem (especially for us english speakers since english is the first language of many of the staff members!). This restaurant and bar is located in the Marais, about a five minute walk from the Hotel de Ville metro stop. The atmosphere is cool and relaxed and great for lunch with friends or even dinner! There are not many tables though so sometimes it is difficult to get a table during peek hours! There is even a cool upstairs area that overlooks the rest of the restaurant. You can even see the chefs preparing your food so you know that everything is fresh and fab. Downstairs beneath the restaurant is an underground bar/club area as well! We have never been to the Lizard Lounge during the late night hours, but we have heard good things!

And without further ado, the menu! The one thing that I really missed in terms of food in Paris was big salads filled with chicken, lots of veggies, and other goodies. It was nearly impossible to find a big salad in Paris that satisfied my craving until I went to the Lizard Lounge. They have the best selection of salads I found in Paris in addition to the most outstanding (and best priced!) hot goat cheese salad we had (and we had a lot of goat cheese salads!). The burger selection was unreal as well. Guacamole burgers were a favorite of many of our friends in addition to burgers with bbq sauce, blue cheese, really anything you could want! All burgers, tartines (which were amazing!!), and other sandwiches were served with roasted potatoes that we died over. I am getting so hungry! And one more thing, the nachos... SO GOOD. M&I love nachos (and mexican food in general) and these were the best nachos we found. Topped with lots of guac, salsa, and yummy chips! They were a real treat! Oh Lizard Lounge, you truly are so so so so good!

M&I took all of our friends visiting from other European cities to Lizard Lounge and they loved it just as much as we did! The menu offered more American items that you typically did not see on menus in Paris in addition to some French favs like tartines and cheve chaud. Did I mention they have real brunch too! I'm talking pancakes and eggs people! Not something you see often in Paris. So promise me you will go to Lizard Loung, you will not be disappointed!

Our Favorite... Indulgences

While living in Paris, M & I were very conscious about what we ate. We had heard horror stories of people going abroad and gaining lots of weight because quite frankly, they were eating everything in sight! M & I refused to blow up but we were not going to refuse ourselves delicious foods and french delicacies. So in order to maintain our figures while still enjoying everything we wanted we simply practiced moderation and only indulged in things that were really worth it! So what do we eat that was totally worth every calorie? Here's our picks for our favorite treats and things we ate without an ounce of guilt. (and let it be known that I actually lost weight while being abroad and still ate lots of great food! moderation people!)

Laudree macaroons are truly unmatched. They are so delicious and magnificent, I am literally drooling as I am writing this post! I am crazy about the hazelnut and framboise flavor in particular although you really cannot go wrong with whatever you choose! An insider tip is that while the stores near the Madeline, in St. Germain, and on the Champs Elysees are beautiful, their lines are always tragically long. If you want to get your macaroons quickly, try the small store inside the Louvre, the line is always short and the flavor is just as delish!

G Chocolate

There are chocolate shops all over Paris, but G was truly the favorite of M & I. We loved to pop in there, fill up a little bag with some of our favorites chocolates, and then go about our day. The chocolate is divine and the price is not too absurd! The macaroons are also great here! Furthermore, the windows also feature amazing chocolate sculptures that are just too cute!

The famous Angelina truly lives up to its reputation. The hot chocolate is life changing and the pastries are to die for! Make sure you make a reservation for a line usually wraps around the block! It also a little pricy, but so worth it. M&I loved to spend the afternoon here with friends, and we were full for days!

Amorino Gelato

During the warm days of fall, M & I loved nothing more then to get a fantastic gelato from Amorino and sit behind Centre Pompidou. Absolutely every flavor is great and the price is perfect for anyone! There is nothing better to cool you off on a warm day then a big cone filled with an amorino flower!

Oh how I miss all the wonderful foods of Paris.

Le Dernier Jour

Today is our final full day in Paris. It has truly been the best three and a half months of my life and I'm sure M would agree. So today we are going to make our final visits to some of our favorite places and soak in the city one last time. It's been amazing Paris... M&I are thankful that we were able to have this opportunity. M & I were looking at our friend J's tumblr and came across a quote she had posted that I think pretty much sums up our feelings about leaving.

So here's to the end of an absolutely unbelievable chapter of our lives and the opening of a new one, sure to be filled with lots of laughing, smiling, adventures, and challenges.

Tomorrow we will be on planes headed back to our respective US cities! It feels like just yesterday I got off the plane and struggled to drag 3 stuffed suitcases into my tiny apartment. Oh how time flies when your having the time of your life.

Little Black Jacket

M&I had the opportunity of seeing The Little Black Jacket exhibit at the Grand Palais in Paris. The photos have been traveling around the world and will be featured in 10 famous cities total for about two weeks at a time. Karl Lagarfeld has revisited and reinvented this classic piece with his photos.

Georgia May Jager

Kanye West

Yoko Ono

Kirsten Dunst

Pictures Taken at the Exhibit:

Sarah Jessica Parker

Elizabeth Olsen

Le Petit Veste Noir was a fabulously done exposition. At the end there were 4 options and each guest was given a poster. M&I chose Kirsten Dunst. Unfortunately it already came to the states but you can experience it online so check it out!

Belgium Chocolates, Waffles and Fries Oh My!

M&I were lucky enough to have a day trip with class to Brussels! We tried all the yummy things in Belgium such as chocolate, waffles and fries. Everything was so delicious! We spent most of our day exploring the Grand Place and the streets around it. There are so many cute little shops to explore.
